The Carers Project
The Carers Project has been set up to raise the profile of Carers as a group of people with specific needs. In particular to identify the numbers of carers within the community so that their health and support needs can be better met by the statutory and voluntary services.
If you feel you are a carer then please let us know so that we may record the fact on your records. You can give details either directly at either surgery, by telephone, letter or fax.
Herefordshire Carers
Herefordshire Carers Support came to an end in March 2020 however, their work continues as Herefordshire Carers, in partnership with Worcestershire Association of Carers. Working together they hope to give Carers a Voice in Herefordshire as well as continuing to deliver events and activities which allow Carers to take a break from their Caring role. You can contact Herefordshire Carers using the following email address: infohfd@carersworcs.org.uk
Herefordshire Carers Assessment
As a carer you have a legal right to a free assessment of your own needs. This is called a carer’s assessment.
The carer’s assessment is not a test about your ability to care. It helps identify what you need, the physical, emotional and practical help, to carry on your caring role. You have the right to have your needs considered when decisions are being made about support for the person you care for. This will include any education, training, work or leisure activity that you would like to take part in.
In your assessment, Social Care will consider issues such as:
- Finding time for yourself
- The effect caring is having on your health and well-being and your relationships with others
- Whether the person you’re caring for is getting enough help and support
- Any additional help that local or national organisations could offer
Contact Herefordshire Social Care to request a carer’s assessment. Call 01432 260101 or emailĀ ASCAdviceandReferralTeam@herefordshire.gov.uk . Children- Carers assessments are also available.
